McLennan Design elevates urban sustainability at a district scale through carbon neutrality, net positive water, zero waste, and integrated public spaces.
A multi-block development in Sydney, Australia gave the McLennan Design team the opportunity to set a new bar for urban sustainability on a district scale. McLennan Design worked as the lead sustainability consultant in collaboration with a dynamic team of consultants to create a plan for a 1.5 million square foot development that included Retail, Commercial Offices, Residential and a Digital Arts Cultural Institution, as well as a public waterfront promenade.
Using cutting edge technology on an unprecedented scale, the project was committed to achieving Carbon Neutrality, Net Positive Water and Zero Waste Emissions for the entirety of the precinct throughout the duration of the 99-year lease.

Designing a Regenerative, Carbon-Neutral Future for Central Barangaroo
McLennan Design led the strategic sustainability vision for Central Barangaroo, equipping the developer and the full architectural and engineering team with the frameworks, analyses, and guidance needed to design a truly climate-positive district. Through integrated Sustainability Targets, Technology Guidance, LBC Petal direction, district-scale Sustainability Roadmaps, and comprehensive Building Performance Analysis, McLennan Design established the technical and regenerative foundation for a precinct engineered to achieve carbon neutrality, net-positive water, and zero waste across its 1.5M SF mixed-use development.
