Considered one of the most influential individuals in the architecture and green building movement today, Jason F. McLennan’s work has made a strong impact on the shape and direction of the entire design industry in the United States, Canada and beyond. Jason is a much sought-after designer, presenter, and consultant on a wide variety of green building and sustainability topics around the world. He is a winner of the Buckminster Fuller Prize, considered the highest award for socially responsible design in the world, an Ashoka Fellow, and has been named one of Yes! Magazine’s Breakthrough 15 individuals helping to reshape the world. Recently McLennan was named ‘World Changer’ by Green Biz magazine. In 2016 he won the ENR Award of Excellence, one of the highest awards in the construction industry and only one of two architects to have won it in its 55-year history.

Jason is an internationally recognized thought leader in regenerative architecture and ecological design. Known for creating the Living Building Challenge, International Living Future Institute, Living Community Challenge, Living Product Challenge, Declare Label, Just Label, and the lead author of the WELL Building Standard as well as the new Sports and Entertainment Sustainability framework GOAL, he has spent his career advancing ideas that elevate both people and place.

At McLennan Design, Jason leads with optimism, rigor, and curiosity—helping teams push beyond convention while remaining grounded in practicality, craft, and care for the living world. He is on the Board of Perkins&Will and serves as the firms Chief Sustainability Officer.
