Johanna Collins
Architect

As a regenerative design architect, I am committed to creating spaces that honor and reflect the intelligence of the natural world. Over my career, I’ve worked across a wide range of project types and scales – from urban masterplans, large scale mixed-use and multi-family developments to small scale civic spaces – each one an opportunity to explore how architecture can serve as a bridge between people and planet.
My design approach is shaped by the belief that nature is not a resource, but a teacher – and a partner to care for. Nature has always taken care of us; through my work, I seek to take care of it in return.
At the heart of my practice is a deep fascination with the intersection of light, materials, and landscape. I draw from the principles of biomimicry to emulate nature’s elegant problem-solving, and from biophilia to foster deeper emotional connections between people and place. Whether designing in dense urban environments or remote ecological settings, I strive to craft spaces that are locally attuned, ecologically integrated, and deeply restorative.
More than just reducing harm, regenerative design is about giving back—reviving ecosystems, nurturing communities, and creating beauty with purpose. My aspiration is to shape places where all forms of life—human and more-than-human—can thrive, and where architecture becomes a living expression of care, reciprocity, and resilience.
