How can we use minimum material for maximum effect?

The International Living Future Institute Headquarters

The new office space for the rapidly growing organization will occupy the adjacent former exhibition and classroom space on the ground floor of the landmark Bullitt Center. A new screen wall buffers the lobby and maximizes interior space utilization. The wall is an abstraction of the spatulate leaf form, providing an interior biophilic design element that also explores structural form finding: the radius of the wood veneer loops are simply found through bending.

The design challenge included fast tracking permitting and construction documents, incorporating donated finishes and furniture, and base building modifications. MD provided design services on a pro-bono basis.
